Hobbies That Have Helped Me Grow As An Entrepreneur

Kashiff Khan Insights on his Hobbies

While we may have a few hobbies we try to keep up on, spending time on hobbies is usually seen as more of a “luxury.” We think of them as something we’ll get back to once our schedules free up a little and our lives a little less crazy.

Realistically, it can be hard to rationalize taking time out for hobbies.

It happens even more so if you are a business owner; the idea of finding time to do something fun and creative can seem like quite a task and an unproductive one at that.

Besides, shouldn’t you be devoting every waking hour to thinking about, planning, and taking your business to greater heights or starting a new one?

Although taking time off from your work for hobbies may initially seem counterintuitive to productivity, all work and no play can end up draining you both, physically and mentally. This can severely impact your productivity as well as creativity, two crucial factors for any entrepreneur to grow their business.

That’s why you need to pursue hobbies that challenge you, fuels creativity, enrich your life, and in turn, helps you become a better entrepreneur.

Here are some of the hobbies that have helped me grow as an entrepreneur.

Spiritual activities

I feel finding a spiritual hobby can help nurture your soul and enhance it, leave anxieties and uneasiness behind, as well as be mindful. Whether it’s yoga or meditation, practicing a spiritual hobby, even for 10 minutes on the busiest days, can make a world of difference.

Moreover, it firstly depends on what you consider spiritual. Secondly, it depends on where you are in your spiritual journey. For some, being with themselves and listening to their thoughts and emotions is a spiritual practice.

While for me, to be fully present with the activity and let it fill my entire being is a spiritual experience.

So essentially, the key ingredient is always the option to listen to yourself, be attentive to your spiritual interests, and let yourself be.

Travel is a great way to disconnect for a while, giving your mind and body a much-needed break and completely rejuvenating yourself. Meeting people at a foreign place along with challenging yourself outside your comfort zone significantly impacts your personal life as well as your professional life.

It provides thrills and surprises that keep our interests alive while breaking away from the mundane routine. Moreover, it is also an excellent approach to not only explore new places but also to explore new ways of life, perspectives, views, and assumptions by providing you an opportunity to look at the world through a different lens.

Most successful entrepreneurs, including me, are usually consumed by the habit of reading as they’re always hungry for knowledge that expands their mindset.

Reading allows you to discover and immerse yourself into entirely new worlds where you can view it through someone else’s perspective while sharing their thoughts and feelings.

We continually build upon our knowledge and ideas each time we experience auxiliary information, which helps us grow as people as well as entrepreneurs, ready to take on any challenge.
